Yeah mate but who owns the majority of stocks on our stock markets? The Dow, S&P 500 and other indexes are great gauges of how the Top 10% are doing and to a lesser extent the middle class. But when it comes to the Bottom 50% of the economy the stock market is a SHlT indicator because NONE of the wealth on it flows down to them.

That's NOT Peter that's every main stream economist on the planet. They are all taught and believe in what's called equilibrium economics where supply and demand end up balancing to an equilibrium state. ITS UTTER BULLSHlT BUT THEY BELIEVE IT ANYWAY because it makes their modelling easier. It also explains why their models all break down when a shock like COVID comes along.

@milesharbord9339 Your 1/2 right the really heavy crude that goes into making things like bearing grease and bitumen comes from Canadian Tar Sands but all the light stuff that makes gasoline, jet fuel and lighter fluid comes out of the shale deposits in places like South Dakota. America STILL has extraordinary reserves in places like California, Oklahoma, Texas and the Gulf of NOT Mexico. Its just down deeper than in the past. Its like the massive reserve Canada has under Saskatchewan which is also deeper than the fields in Alberta.
