I don't know the nature or wording or even the existence of "threat laws" in America, but in Australia if you make a threat to harm or kill you are facing up to 8years.

@joanneden1829 I'm an Aussie but went to college in America and had many conversations with some of my frat bothers who were pre-law. They used to drive me nuts but its kind of useful now - who knew?? I think the US constitution is an amazing achievement in how it guarantees so many basic rights. It just has 1 flaw - it has no onus on people to be responsible with those rights. I call it the "R" word issue. The one thing you don't push with Americans unless you know them is the subject of responsibility. I learnt that you have to be very careful about discussing responsibility with most people but some (not all) Americans get kind of explosive about it.
