If you want a good idea of what's happening go watch Konstantin Kisin on Triggernometry. He's a Russian born Brit who's a native Russian speaker. He's got family there who he's in contact with. He knows the culture. The other person to check out is Julia Ioffe who was just interviewed by PBS Frontline. She's a Russian born American who also knows here stuff.

You're the first person down the list who has started a thread with the right thing to discuss. A couple of days ago Konstantin Kisin a Russian born Brit was pointing that out. He's a co-host of the Triggernometry channel and worth the time. He's been trying to explain the culture and where it differs from what we think is normal behavior. The other person to check out is Julia Ioffe who was interviewed by PBS Frontline. She's a Russian born American and also a native Russian speaker like Konstantin and they have both pointed out failures in some of the translations. BOTH have discussed and explained the problem of backing Putin into a corner. Konstantin has explained why we must not push him and Julia has explained how he's already boxing himself into a corner. if you want to get your head around this stuff then go and listen to those sorts of people who know the language and culture.

For starters go and listen to those people who are Russian born, who understand the language and the culture. I watched a long interview of Julia Ioffe by PBS Frontline. I have also watched Konstantin Kisin a Brit who co-hosts the Triggernometry YT Channel. BOTH are Russian born, well educated and most importantly know what they are talking about. The rest, including David are only repeating other people's opinions on this one. Konstantin has explained a lot about Russian mindsets and that the last thing anyone wants is to back Putin into a corner. Unfortunately, as Julia has explained, Putin has started backing himself into a corner. This is the real risk right now. Go watch her explain what happened in a recent public Russian broadcast. I haven't seen or heard anyone explain Putin's recent actions better. There's way too much speculation right now. A lot of people got Putin's actions very, very wrong. There's a staggering amount of bad faith actors putting lots of stupid clips on Facebook, Twitter and Tik Tok making lots of idiotic claims. I have watched a couple of Americna channels that are usually pretty good and watched them get stuff horribly wrong today. If you want to watch a News service that's trying to fact check and get things right try DW (German).

@shunt5001 No DK-HED its bad for the entire human race if Putin loses his mind. Nuclear fallout doesn't care about borders.

@adlucem9845 OK DK-HED we all get that its all corrupt. If its not the Americans going in and supporting some regime then its the Brits, the French, the Russians, the Chinese. THEY ALL DO IT - OK The difference is who's BS we ignore and who's we scream and yell about. DO YOU GET IT

@denisemand4391 This is a stupid comment because he wont EVER see jail. Bush, Cheney, Obama, Trump and others would be guilty of breaking the same laws over Iraq & Afghanistan for the same sort of stuff Putin is doing? Unless Putin does something utterly stupid against the Russian people like Saddam Hussein did. Unless theirs a Russian court to hand him over too NOTHING WILL EVER HAPPEN Putin will never be charged with anything. FK why can't any of you understand that's how the system works. 99% of us deal with the shite while the 1% can get away with everything.

@aick If you want to dismiss them on not telling the truth then you better include every other government in the world because you're a fool if you think any of them tell the truth. They all lie, the only difference is how well they lie and many stupid fools believe them.

@adlucem9845 Yeah fine so long as you call out ALL OF IT. Way to much people finger point at one thing screaming their heads of as they ignore the same thing somewhere else or even worse they excuse the same thing done by others.

@generalmartok3990 Yeah and that surprises NOBODY. When America went into Iraq there were Americans absolutely for it and other Americans totally opposed. Even in Hitler's Germany there were Germans opposed to his invasions. They usually didn't survive for long but they did exist. People keep forgetting there' very little that's actually new in politics. They lie, they cheat, they scream. Once they realised how effective backstabbing was after Brutus knifed Julius Caesar that's been standard practice. Why do you think Putin has meetings at tables long enough to land jets on? He's worried about that guy named Marcov Yuri Brutuski.
