  1. Great point what you are showing is one of the cruel facts about POPULAR democracies. They are fundamentally popularity contests NOT contests of substance and what's more they never have been. By extension to that politics in the era of the internet and social media is even less about substance. Even after people get elected, doing the job they were elected to do is less important than promoting the narrative that got them elected. Sadly Trump not only understood that way better than anyone knew at the time, he was also able to exploit it better than anyone had done previously.
