I get that. Anybody who has seen up close (and I have) a close friend or family die of cancer of other terminal illness knows there is a place in medicine for these drugs. But what Purdue, the Sackler family and their lackeys did was indefensible and they need to go to jail for a damn long time. If the US Courts wont do it then maybe people need to use the International court and charge them with crimes against humanity. Even if the US wont hand them over a conviction there would freeze or strip their assets around the world. It would also take away any places for them to flee to or hide.

Great point - where has all the anti-vax stuff come from? It wasn't even on anybody's mind in the 90s. I wonder how much of it stems from the utter ruthlessness of big pharma. Not to excuse any of their idiotic garbage but they aren't wrong they claim big pharma can't be trusted.

@jakemccluremd That's a valid point but how much of that decline is due to the people seeking prescriptions dying from overdoses. Alternatively did doctors just stop or reduce or restrict, prescribing them based on the outcomes they saw?
