Great sentiment except that the thing everyone should have realised by now is that no matter what democratic country you want to talk about the party in power will do anything to avoid anything embarrassing coming out and the party in opposition will do anything to make sure that it does come out. A while back David used the term "toxic sport politics" he didn't define it but from the context it was referring to the endless news cycles of politicians not caring in the slightest in running their country and only being interested in winning the current news cycle no matter the cost to human decency or the nation they claim to care about. National security has nothing to do with anything anymore other than being a quaint talking point used like a special teams gimmick play.
