  1. It goes a bit further. What Trump has really done is show just how corrupt Western Democracies have become. I have watched a lot of Mark Blyth these last few months. He's the Prof from Brown who predicted both Trump and Brexit and just co-authored the book Angrynomics. He has said repeatedly for these last few years that Trumpism is not an American phenomenon. Its going on across the world and that its not just limited to the right and there are leftist versions of this sort of populism. Nothing matters to these people except what will be popular with their base at this moment and works for their money people. The difference between the Republicans and Democrats is that the Democrats still have some semblance of shame and that they still care (at least a bit) on what people think as well as what they feel. Conscious rational thought is not a requirement for Republican supporters anymore and they DON'T CARE.

  2. Very simple and if not 100% true then the differences will be things like they're defending or benefitting the interests of their financial supporters.
