Among the debunking of flat earthers I have commented that there are 3 types of flat earthers and it applies to these people as well. Type 1: The delusional - for what ever reason these people actually believe what they say. Type 2: The gullible - who are those who for various reason were unable to think through the information they had and see it for what it was. Type 3: The snakes (named after snake oil salesmen) - who are the people who KNOW what they are saying isn't true. They have 2 motives - power and money (sometimes both) There's next to nothing anyone can do with the first type other than not aggravate them and make it worse. The second type can be reached but it requires patience and you need to find a way to break through with something they can't deny. Not something you know as fact but something they can't deny. A good one with Trumpists is too ask why he NEEDs donations when he's got so much money. Emphasizing the word NEED. Just keep asking "Why does he NEED your money, when he's go so much?" It has a chance of eventually breaking through. The third type (the snake) is best dealt with by EXPOSING THEM to their audience and followers. Its no use talking about them among the people who know they are frauds. These people DO NOT CARE about your opinion. They only care about the gullible and delusional who they can make money from or have power over.

@kevinathans4191 I agree with all of that, although I wouldn't describe religion as a conspiracy theory but would describe conspiracy theories as pseudo religions because they have common fundamental threads: a) People looking for a convenient answer (or answers) to life and death. b) People following an ideology because their family follows that ideology. c) People following an ideology because it makes up for their social position. They know something others don't and it gives a sense of superiority or control of their own destiny when for other aspects of life they have none. d) Once people have settled on their chosen ideology they will follow it blindly to destruction. e) These ideologies are dominated by people who range from good to fantastic at public speaking and public debate. In particular they are able to stir crowds up and get them moving in a desired direction. They have a feel for mob psychology rather than a technical understanding of it. They are extremely Machiavellian in that they don't care in the slightest about what the consequences are so long as they have attention, power, money or all 3. They are opportunists rather than strategists, of which Trump is the perfect example these days. I went to an Australian private high school and we studied various religions and one of the odd things is that most of the worlds religious movements were started on some basic simple truth. The founders may have had faults but they founded things on some basic realities. Martin Luther is a good example in that he put out a pamphlet listing a bunch of basic truths regarding the Catholic Church. Mohammed pointed out that neither the Jews, Christians or Zoroastrians could be the "true religion" because of how they treated their own people. Which is odd considering how conflicting Islamic groups now treat each other. But common to all these groups is that once the founder was long dead and those who had actually been around that founder were also long dead then others hijacked that ideology. Christianity is a great example of that. By the time of the counsel of Nicaea in 325 they were so far off the basics Jesus wouldn't have recognized himself. Look how rapidly Trumpism devolved from his original message which was "I'm not part of the establishment." He now is the establishment and its all happened in a couple of years and even with footage of what he and others said only a few years ago. His latest asking for $45 flies in the face of his claims back in 2015 that he was incorruptible because he was rich and didn't need anyone's money. If he's as rich as he claimed in 2015 why does he need to ask for money. I think the biggest issue with humanity right now are people blindly following what is most convenient to them without any understanding of what is and isn't fact.

@kevinathans4191 In respect of your reply to jim bob about Americans living in poverty I saw this YouTube a while back. It backs up you point with some harsh reality -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aG0nqRXLDOg

@kevinathans4191 I'm an aerospace engineer and I first worked it out looking at the moon hoax claimants. It was pretty obvious the most vocal people were too well spoken to be so stupid to believe it. So it became obvious they were in it to make money from gullible people. I think Trump is just another of that type of player and trying to make as much money as possible from gullible people.

@kevinathans4191 I'd agree Trumpism falls under the definition of a religion. Mark Blyth did a great lecture back in 2019 about Trumpism and populism from the political and social standpoint. But since then its morphed into something more than the normal socio-political construct. I say construct because its more than a concept or ideology as there's 74million real human beings who voted for him and at least 50million of them still think he won. That level of delusion and inability to accept reality makes Trumpism more than an ideology or concept and its arrived in our midst so suddenly. Does anybody realise that there are only 19 countries with populations over 74million? There are only 28 countries with over 50million. So Trumps 50miillion fanatics who believe his garbage is not to be trifled with. Considering that's 50million adults of which the vast majority own guns its nothing to be underestimated.

@kevinathans4191 It part of the culture war rhetoric. Whatever the other side does is a disaster and what ever we do will save the nation and its future. Fact's have nothing to do with anything anymore. The best way I have heard it described is: There's this cacophony of the RADICAL right and RADICAL left just screaming at each other while the rest of us trapped in the middle are just exhausted. They operate on the same mindset of a 5 year old. If you keep screaming long enough the adults will simply submit under the relentless stress.
