@craigcrawford6595 Certainly "whataboutism" is a recent term. It mainly applies to misdirection and avoidance of answering a direct question. I think Tu Tocque more refers to the hypocrisy, like Ted Cruz recently making claims that the Dems would be doing the bad things (like stacking SCOTUS) and they were the same things the GOP had been doing. Brian Tyler Cohen did a good vid on what Cruz did.

Because even when they are pressed they can answer as this clown did and the Fox audience will lap up the answer. Its called whataboutism and is one of the main methods radicals of BOTH Left & Right persuasions stay in power. They answer with "whatabout" to almost everything. Its why so many of our worlds problems are NOT being addressed let alone solved. Their audience - the people who blindly follow radical political ideologies aren't interested in reality or actual solutions all they want to hear is how the other side is bad and their side is good. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♀️

@craigcrawford6595 I actually had to look up Tu Tocque and I think your right. The Wikipedia does state that its frequently used with "whataboutism" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tu_quoque
