It doesn't take fascism it simply takes narcissism. Go look at almost any political party in the world right now and they ALL have people who will do anything for their hold on power - its just that some of them don't care who sees what they do because they know their base will love it. Look at almost any populist leader in the world right now. They KNOW for sure that they can do whatever they like so long as they give their base that one thing they want. Trump played the Roe-V-Wade card right at the Christian Nationalists and they instantly didn't care squat over any of his moral shortcomings. Modi does similar in India with the Hindu Nationalists. Bolsonaro in Brazil gave the cattle farmers open slather on land clearing and they didn't care squat over anything else he did. Despite being a Communist Putin does it in Russia with the Russian Orthodox Church. I'm Australian and we have people on BOTH sides of our politics who will do anything and pander to anyone so long as they stay in power. I was in Canada a few years ago for work and some of their political scandals were almost identical to Australia. Contracts awarded to family and friends. Money hidden in offshore banks. Billionaires getting anything they wanted. Companies doing enormous environmental damage without consequence. If it wasn't for the moose and polar bears the stories could have been about Australia. Its the same everywhere. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♀️

@lurkalisk On that you are right. America like it excels in so many ways seems to also excel in radical political thinking. There's a really interesting interview with an ex-KGB agent from way back in 1984. Yuri Bezmenov was quite wrong on a few points. Mainly that it was the Soviets who collapsed. BUT in terms of what he says about people being UNABLE to reach sensible conclusions despite abundant factual evidence is just plain scary RIGHT NOW. @Marijuanifornia That's a very narrow line of thought. I am well aware of the "other" uses of hemp products. I've known about the rope for years and it was actually DuPont who lobbied for its outlaw to get rid of the main rival to nylon. I am well aware non-THC hemp is now used in clothing. You can also by Hemp protein why I add to soups and other drinks. But as a solution to everything your stretching reality - a long way.
