Its called tribalism and its effectively the new norm. David's recent interview with Vincent Racaniello on COVID was pretty good but it did have 1 really bad mistake. I don't know if he just made a mistake or if it was deliberate, but he did say the Chinese were NOT working on these viruses and that's just wrong. The Chinese were publishing their research. For simply fact checking and providing evidence people went crazy with one calling me a commie Putin supporter. This is the problem we now face. If anybody dares fact check any claim the tribe doesn't like they get screamed at by the tribe. Its why we aren't making any progress on some serious world issues - climate change, refugees, food shortages, economics,.... etc. and that list is only getting longer. Certainly we are going to struggle with COVID because of stupid people being tribal.

@ArisaemaTriphyllum I said it to show just how tribal people have become. I don't think they were a right winger. It was in the comments for an interview David Pakman (and he's very leftist) did with a virologist who said the Chinese were NOT doing research on the COVID viruses. That surprised me because its well known they were working on them. I don't know if he just made a simple mistake BUT it was wrong. Most of what he said I agree with but on that point he was WRONG and when I corrected it (including evidence) a couple of people went nuts. This is the tribalism we're at. If you question ANYTHING people go nuts. There's no middle ground, there's no other position or explanation. There is the tribal view and if you're not 100% onboard you're the enemy. Its bonkers.

@keirfarnum6811 Sorry but that discussion is over. WE KNOW what the Chinese were doing There are experts who have studied the research the Chinese published and they have said what was going on. Do you self a favor and listen to them and this short documentary isn't on FOX or CNN or OAN or MSNBC. DW is one of the most reputable news services in the world right now. As for Vincent I don't know if he made a simple honest mistake and I said that up front. But the fact is he was wrong.
