USA Today?????? Yeah I guess its not as bad and awful as some, but its also fairly shallow. NYT & WaPo used to have great reputations across the world. I'm Australian and I can assure you that the reputation of the entire American media landscape has collapsed in recent years. And if you want to blame our very own Rupert Murdoch for destroying the credibility of American Media - we tried to warn you. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♀️

@MrKennyBones A quote from 1 of my favorite authors and arguably one of the finest minds of the 20th century. “There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there always has been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.” ― Isaac Asimov, News Week, 1980

That's pretty spot on.

@MrKennyBones I'd agree with all of that. The whole concept of "social media influencers' is simply idiotic crap. If your car has a problem do you call the plumber or the mechanic? If your house blows a fuse do you call the local MCDonald's or an electrician? One of the really insidious aspects of anti-intellectualism is that it denigrates training, qualifications and experience - all the things that make up a persons expertise. Look at how the climate change denial industry operates. Look at how many political movements operate - including ones that at least superficially have good motives. They don't appeal to any logic they play emotional cards. Its not just here its all through industry and business as well. Look at HR and how they operate. Nobody's experience or skill matters anymore. I'm an an engineer and I can tell you that's right at the core of how Boeing went wrong with the Max-8. Go back through both Space Shuttle accidents and right there at the core of both was the dismissal of experience. In those and other cases they threw out skills, experience and knowledge and went with the "happy face" that sucks up to management. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♀️ Yeah I've had too much time to think on this in 2020 & 2021.

@zzanatos2001 Yeah we thought that 20 years ago when he turned 70. We thought that again 10 years ago when he turned 80. When he said he didn't know again and again at the British enquiry into phone tapping, they suggested that maybe he was unfit to be running a public company. If you can find it look for his reaction - its still scares me to this day. For a moment he lost composure and showed us all what's there and its effing scary. WTF makes anyone thing that monster is gonna stop because of a simple fact like turning 90. Then there is his chosen son Lachlan who some are claiming is worse.

That's pretty spot on and a great observation of what it CAN DO and be used for.

@brettlarch8050 I absolutely agree on that. I have had some amazing conversations here on YouTube about all sorts of things. But then there are the complete ratbags, conmen, charlatans and snake oil salesmen. Take your pick - Flat Earth, Moon Hoax, Climate Denial or 100s of other bad faith con jobs.
