Summing up so far. Yeah its utterly crazy to the point where they openly admit it was all a lie and THEY planned to steal the election. And Jo OL points out why - there are no consequences. There were no consequences for the lies that started the Iraq invasion. There were no consequences for the torturing and abuses at Abu Ghraib and other places. There were no consequences for the fraud & lies that caused the GFC. There are NO CONSEQUENCES for the political establishment or the corporate elite ON BOTH SIDES.

@alwayz247 Correct on all points but I'd add or alter that the legal system WONT touch them rather than CAN'T.

@alwayz247 Yeah our legal systems. After several 1000 years of refinement where we progressed step by step to make all men equal we have arrived back at the start. The Kings, Emperors and Nobles are exempt from the law while they persecute us peasants with it at every opportunity.

@jenkem4464 I'd agree on that. But for most things they aren't too far apart. Last year Kelly Loeffler and other were called out of insider trading and only days ago Nancy Pelosi said it was fine for politicians to do what would send the rest of us to jail. But then you're right on the bigger picture the GOP has just amped it up another level and the hypocrisy is mind boggling. My favorite comparison are the kids. Sure Hunter Biden traded on daddy's name and position. He made a few hundred grand in Ukraine and a few million in other places and his painting stuff stinks. But compared to Jared & Ivanka actually working in the White House as they averaged $100 million a year for 4 years leaves Hunter as a sad pathetic amateur when it comes to corruption.

@danielmoskowitz3060 Right on all points. There's a huge issue with tailored media. People only here the view they want to hear and it just reinforces their view of the world. No one should be surprised that BOTH sides have issues. It might be a lot worse on the right but make no mistake the left is guilty of echo chambering. It was actually a major point that they tries to explain in the 2004 documentary Outfox. Other media would end up following Murdoch's business model. As for consequences its largely driven by big business. Mark Blyth pointed out that it used to be "Bail Fail go to Jail and its now Bail, Bail nobody goes to jail." Basically in the past you might bail someone out ONCE, but if they then cheated and failed again you put them down and down hard. Every since the bluff of "too big to fail" (and it is a bluff) the big end of town has gotten away with stuff that would put you or me in jail for centuries. THAT MUST END or we end up in a revolution.
