  1. I agree with all he says except one point, which he even sort of describes. The Tea Party weren't the foundation that lead to Trump they were just a major leap towards Trump. When he said the Tea Party "riled up" the GOP base and that primed them for Trump he's absolutely right. BUT the foundation was laid years earlier during the Reagan/Bush administration when they pandered to the fundamentalists and then cemented in place with Newt Gingrich when he tied himself to Rupert Murdoch. It only came out recently that Newt Gingrich was having an affair as he prosecuted Clinton over the Lewinsky affair. His hypocrisy was thrown in his face during an interview not so long ago. That's on top of the fact he took a $5million dollar book signing bonus from Rupert Murdoch at a time Murdoch was pushing for more corporate freedoms. The Tea Party was a major step in the process but the foundations were laid years earlier.

  2. He's got nothing to lose. Note what he describes about those who are effectively trapped by the Republican base (as in the voters). I wished they talked about why the base is the way it is. I would have like to hear him speak about Fox, OAN, Newsmax, etc. and how they have pounded the Republican base into the enraged fascist mob they've become. While the Republican base lives inside its Fox-OAN-Newsmax conspiracy echo chamber there's not much of a future for America. Over 74 million voted to re-elect Trump. That's more than the entire population of countries like France and Britain and almost double the population of Canada and almost 3 times the population of Australia. I would like to hear guys like this talk about getting those people out of those echo chambers and reconnecting them with reality.
