Maybe it was midterms, maybe a lack of Trump or maybe some people woke up. America's future actually depends on a lot of Americans waking up. Unfortunately there are so many addicted to living in their fantasy dreamland where reality is the opposite to reality there is not much chance of actual change. In fact you know its farked up when you write "where reality is the opposite to reality" and despite your brain saying that makes no sense and yet it makes sense.
