I'm Australian but went to college in America. 1: I have been to Texas a few times and Ted Cruz is nothing like most people from Texas. They are generally well mannered and sensible and when it comes to football some of the best fans on the planet. BUT just like Australia does they have their clowns as well. The difference is their clowns have guns. 2: Ted Cruz is actually very, very intelligent. He was dux of his high school, graduated cum laude from Princeton and magna cum laude from Harvard Law. He's an American champion debater and finished top 4 at a world championship. HE'S ALSO an arrogant narcissistic shite of an opportunistic piece of crap who's pandering to his equally ignorant base. His base think he's a champion of working class values, but they ignore that his wife is a senior manager at Goldman Sachs. Just don't judge ALL of Texas or America on people like Ted Cuz. It would be like judging all of Australia on Clive Palmer or Graig Kelly.

@noname-by3qz Yeah that oldest continuous culture line is a bit of a Furphy, for the simple reason there isn't any real evidence of any culture anywhere older than about 4,500 years because that's when written records started. There's certainly evidence going back further but its not recorded history. That's what is actually meant by "prehistoric" as in "before history." Without records that detail who was doing what and when who knows what any tribe or people or culture they were actually doing.

@carolbostrom593 Careful on that. As an Australian we have our versions of Ted Cruz. You've probably never heard of Graig Kelly or Pauline Hanson. They are just 2 of more notorious political clowns. I was in Canada for work in 2017 they have there's as well. EVERYONE has them. America's problem is that it has a huge population so the difference is that America has millions of people who listen to them. Trump got 74million votes that's almost 3 times the population of Australia and more than double Canada. Like many people around the world TRULY hope America can find a way past this point and rid itself of this ignorance.

@perthdude21 Good points and that is the thing that separates out some countries from others - How much power they give these clowns. America is at the top of that list after Trump. Closely followed by Russia China and Brazil with Britain, Italy and France fighting over 5th spot. But Australia has 1 flaw in its system and that's a little thing called balance of power. The greens and Democrats have held it at times and used it responsibly in that they never screwed the entire country up. All any group of clowns needs to do is get enough people to have the balance of power and they then can exert extraordinary influence. Don't forget we ALMOST gave that power to Clive Palmer and he's trying to do it again. We already have the Nationals with too much power now. Imagine what it COULD be like if enough idiots (and we have plenty) vote for his Graig Kelly led disaster.

@DustinHawk69 if you base almost any jurisdiction in the world and ask is this the best person they have you'll come up short on most if not very close to all. Its one of those great conundrums of democracy you can only vote for the people on offer and sometimes what is on offer isn't the best of any society. However when you have people like Ted Cruz, Nancy Pelosi (in her penthouse) and others your society needs to start asking if its not just a simple case of poor options or if the system is fundamentally broken.
1
