You need to remember HOW nations went about punishing people in the past (and you don't have to go back that far to see ugliness). The British used to not simply just hang people they used to make it a public spectacle designed to put fear into the population as in - Do what the King and his agents say or this is what we will do to you. Go back and look through European history and its ugly. Executioners weren't usually valued for how quick they were many were valued for how long they could make it last. When the French first started using the guillotine the crowds booed it because instead of the theater and entertainment they got quick, efficient and boring. For centuries the Europeans used to work for 6 days and on the 7th they went to church in the morning and the executions in the afternoon. Before the NFL Sunday afternoon entertainment used to be the hangings, chopping and whipping and gutting and castrating and all the other shit.

I had to scroll down but I finally found an intelligent comment - well done. What I find interesting is that this really is an important discussion and I wished David did more, but there's less than 150 comments (at this moment) which means either a lot of people are unwrapping or they just don't care about important stuff.

@timothyamaraobrien Your right I wish he would do it more often. He had Richard Wolf on a while back and he was one of David's professors, but the guy I'd like to see him have is Mark Blyth, who was on this panel -->https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8g1aMsDYJCc I'd like to see him interview someone like Glenn Kirschner who was a JAG before he was a Federal Prosecutor. It was one of his associates at DOJ who prosecuted the 4 Backwater guys Trump just pardoned. Brian Tyler Cohen Interviews a lot of people maybe too many. I'd just like to see David interview more often. 1 a week maybe, what's your number?
