  1. Looking through the comments here there's a common mistake. You've all equated or linked HONESTY to intellectual capability or intelligence. After completing my degree in aerospace I got 2 scholarships for a Masters followed by a PhD. Just as my Masters was in review I was defrauded by the head of department. Then my new PhD supervisor took money from my scholarship funds to buy plane tickets to a conference. When I confronted him he looked my in the face and said "This is how the system works. Get used to it." These were very smart people with very high intellectual capacity and yet they were also DISHONEST. Go and look at the scandals in Universities and academic dishonesty. Its no different than the corruption or malpractice that happens in other professions like the police, doctors and government. Look at the disaster of FTX. SBF and his friends were all very smart intellectual types with degrees from good universities and yet they have been incredibly dishonest. Go look at the 2008 GFC and all the very smart Harvard, Yale & Columbia types who literally stole billions. They did nothing but lie. As an engineer I have worked with a lot of people on shop floors and in factories. Many could barely pass high school and yet they are among the most honest & decent people I have ever met in my life.
