Correct - they completely misunderstand the concept that freedom doesn't mean you are free to effect others in negative ways. We see this all the time with other issues like pro-gun activists (like the NRA). They protest anything and everything including background checks, fire arm registration, firearm modification for fully automatic operation, sales via mail and private sales at gun shows. They just don't care that what they want has a direct consequence on events like Sandy Hook. We also see this with free speech advocates and other things. I do support people's rights to be free and have their own opinions and say what they like provided they act sensibly and NOT selfishly in ways that threaten everyone else. Take the flat earth crowd. There are people who really believe the earth is flat - sad but true. I don't like that they speak garbage but its their right. BUT then there are those who know the earth is spherical but preach lies to vulnerable people trying to make money from them. That shite I have zero tolerance for.

@peter good points on both. The hyper polarized tribalism is a mega issue on so many fronts right now.

I get your point absolutely but there are actually 3 groups in this discussion not 2. There are those who are vaccinated or will get vaccinated as soon as they can - they 're not a problem). There are the anti-vaxxers who are a problem nobody has time to deal with right now. Then there are the hesitant who have any of a pile of reasons. I want to get vaccinated ASAP, but I have had DVTs twice and the doctors can't tell me right at this moment if its safe. I just met a guy the other day who had by-pass surgery a couple of years ago. His doctors have also told him to wait. We're both technically in group 1 in that we want to get vaccinated but we're also group 3. Dr. Michael Osterholm (director of CIDRAP and an expert in infectious disease and pandemic response) has been vocal about NOT alienating the hesitant because it will drive them into the arms of the anti-vaxxers. He is one of the staunchest advocates for getting people vaccinated and he doesn't want people getting alienated.

@jjbud3124 Your right - but the point Dr. Osterholm made was don't alienate people. He has 30+ years dealing with these issues and he's said it never works.
