  1. You are actually very close its NOT the Bible per se its the MISUSE of the Bible that's the problem and the same can be said of almost any book or writing. Look at the Bill of Rights. I happen to think its one of the most brilliant constructs of human history (and I am Australian), BUT the MISUSE of it has been a disaster. Look at how the NRA focus on just the very last phrase of the 2nd Amendment to justify everything they want while they ignore the parts on "well regulated" and "security." I remember reading an article years ago on misquoting and how many common sayings are actually misquotes of the original. The #1 misquote in that article pointed was a line from Romans 12 that is shortened to "Vengeance is mine, says the Lord." Its been used as the excuse for "God said I can seek vengeance and do..." for centuries. Here's the full quote from Romans 12:19 (NIV) Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. You can look at almost any translation and it basically says "NO - you cannot seek and take revenge on someone. The Lord will deal with it." Its identical to the police telling people. "Don't take the law into your own hands. That's our job." So the Bible per se is NOT the problem is these delusional self-righteous clowns who use it to bash people that are the problem.
