  1. I was about to jump on that comment and then stopped. YOU ARE RIGHT. There's an obsession in the media with people who are in the media in either entertainment, sports, politics,.... or ANY of those people with PUBLIC presence, just get salacious media attention that belittles all the other occurrences in our society. Gabby Petito's story is tragic, but I wonder if she wasn't in the media with a presence would this be a large public story at all. I'm in Australia and yet another sports star got into a public spat with his girlfriend recently. It got front page & leading stories coverage. If that story didn't involve a high profile person (irrespective of what that profile is) we would never have heard about it.

  2.  @fedos  Good point, I missed that. Its actually a very sad aspect of how our societies value some people and not ALL people. If you think about it we quite happily pay entertainers, sports stars,...etc. millions of dollars but then complain about the costs of important services like doctors. But then don't forget that the people you are referring to are getting their opinions formed from information in the media. Never forget that people can only ever form opinions from their own experiences and the information they have at hand. If either of those things are limited or tainted then its never goes or ends well.
