Gas engines are worse because they are contaminating the oil with gasoline which is a solvent as opposed to diesel, which is a type of oil

@ mine still hasn’t let me down. AndI got it in 2009- I left on adventure with all my possessions in it in 2015 And never went back. Many adventures since. Countless cross country trips.

It is consuming oil through the PCV system, which is being replaced by fuel so the level may not change at all It may even go down while continuing to add fuel if it is burning more oil
