As a mechanic I probably made over $100,000 alone off 1.8t broken timing belts and leaking timing chain tensioner seals and coolant flange failure. And not to mention breather systems made of garbage. So sad how many of these owners refused to rebuild the breather systems. Resulting in the turbocharger boost leaking into the crank case. Of which no engine should be asked to endure. I love em. Chip tune em and the first person who drives it will buy it.

@piccalillipit9211 if an intermittent loss of power causes an accident You were cutting it too close to death already for no reason

@orangejjay Why single vw when most manufacturers got caught. They just caught first. Doesn’t mean they are different

That’s how I got a job in an exclusive vw shop in 2009. Showed my boss 2,000 intelligent comments on a vw forum. He said ok ok You’re hired. Still member of that forum. But don’t post much because it’s a bunch of prudes. And one of the main guys is a true sociopath. Who once explained to me that there is no such thing as a true apology. He then proceeded to procure an identical copy of my vehicle down to the year and color and options. Terrifying stuff.

Mark Twain once said something along the lines of “ never argue with an idiot, because from a distance you will be indistinguishable from the idiot”

If you do not make your car last your entire lifetime. Or at least half your life. Is so very wasteful. As …. We should be considered lucky to get one car. Ppl believe their car is worthless from hail dents. 3rd world country person would love their machine despite dents. That alone shows the horrible mental problems us ‘modern ppl’ are

Tdi in rabbit pickup. Can not be beat for Mpg Or smiles per gallon. Because it’s rated at 54mpg in a vehicle that weighed over 1000lbs more!!!! I have bought 3 gallons since before the war in Ukraine

In Ohio you can delete everything. And register it as an antique and never have any sort of inspection again. ‘Mercia

I know I’ve made dick head comment. I love you brother man. And your content. To repeat my comment variable turbo! Not just for diesels. Debut in the 80s o gas cars! The new Porsche one is awesome! I would rather have your content of choice than owning a Porsche. Even an electric one. Say it again. I love you, brother man.

Another note, this engine is simpler than anything manufactured today.

By kiss you mean someone grabbing a hand full of hair and smashing your face against a rock.

I imagine if he explained to you that your wife was leaving you, It would still make you feel optimistic.
7
I imagine the mechanics had anxiety as well. Although I have yet to meet an honest mechanic who isn’t anxious.

I need new rods.... My engine has had a slightly bent rod for over a hundred thousand miles. It’s probably not bent that bad lol

I enjoyed this. Learned a lot more than engineering school. I had hell owning a euro shop in USA where owners would assume RON numbers fit octane. Havoc ensued.

When my car had no turbo it ran really REALLY well in Death Valley. Now it has a variable turbo it runs REALLY well, all the time :)

Real diesels don’t need computers

The dealership (In America) actually give big discounts for buying in bulk. I got 10 oil filters for like $3.50 each. And dealer oil filters are important as the valve in the filter regulates how much oil bypasses. So an aftermarket filter can totally cause your engine to fail.

I put a larger master And it was excellent improvement. Even such that when the reservoir is bone dry there is enough fluid in the cylinder for full-braking.

Step 1. install mTDI in rabbit Step 2. Get 60+ mpg avg While having nearly twice the torque and same hp as a mk1 GTI. (And getting over 2x the economy )

Yamaha invented the 5 valve engine. The first motorcycle to race with that engine had a clutch failure on lap number one and was unable to use the clutch. They still won!

@hisheeelijah1482 Nah listen to Nathan. Engineering explained is a sell out

K04 dual intercooler and a tune is all a guy really needs.

Saw 99 comments. Love you bro. Just wanted to get you into triple digits. 100😎

I just wanna say that even if the diagram doesn’t match up perfectly this is a great video. These videos are quite enjoyable! They have come a long way.

Routing the breather to atmosphere- instead of using the intake air to draw it out … Literally loses free horsepower.

I’m a mechanical turbo diesel kinda guy. But Your animations and presentation are fire Brother man. Keep it up. Do a video on variable turbos!!! They are incredible!!!
4
Yeah, but how do they make the pistons, That make high pressure- cast- pistons?

I would like to know about my Stu tu tu tu is with a diesel with no throttle, and variable turbo
3
True story. The benefits from x pipe aint a peanut compared to a turbo
3
It depends on what setup. In my experience having diverted valve(s) (some high models have dual diverter valves. ) Diverter valves are better than wastegates because when the wastegate opens the turbo shaft changes speed. Diverting air does not interrupt the turbine spinning.

I had a aircooled vw beetle 1776 cc engine with a side draft dellorto.... And a t3/4 turbo. Sadly I needed a home more than I needed a turbo engine and sold it before I ever got to put it in a car.

No timing light is going to tell you a camshaft is out of time. Unless the distributor runs off the camshaft itself
3
The highest mileage car was a carb Volvo with more than 4 million miles. Sorry you’re wrong generalized advice is theoretical but wrong.

Have a 2010 ej25 (old lady’s car) that’s been maintained meticulously. Just did a full service with dealer parts. Full Timing belt set. And water pump. $$$ for dealer parts. It still has a minor coolant leak from the cross over pipe but I have to wait to fix because we are going camping. Still zero seepage from head gaskets or valve covers at over 120,000miles. It’s plenty powerful and with the cvt trans is like a magic carpet (after you service everything with high quality full synthetic fluids. Full synthetic Cvt fluid from redline is like a chip tune for your trans
3
You say you cannot control the cooling of air cooled. The vw beetle had a thermostat that shut off air flow over cyl until engine reaches operating temp. In the 1940s.

An idiot can destroy a brand new stock vehicle in less than 1-4 weeks!!!

Measure your oem wheel. Compare measurement of new wheel Measure available space around oem rim. Is that difference larger than space available? Your welcome.
3
I did this 12 years ago. How much fuel and money have u wasted. There are zero sensors to ever have to replace. You replace your MAF ONcE on a Tdi. And I could drive nearly 2,000 miles on how much u paid for one sensor.

Seinfeld’s mechanic “I have no faith in these gaskets”

Excellent video brother. Keep up great work

And now manufacturers change models every 3-4 years max. It takes 5-10 years just to prove reliability. They just gamble on the end user just enough to fund the next gamble. My cars 44 years old. My engine is 26 yo. My transmission is 33 yo. All proven machines.
3
My engine has a timing belt and is terribly interference. I got bought the whole car for $500 with a broken timing belt. Put new valves and lifters and timing belt (Had 300,000 miles on it) That was 10 years ago. Ain’t nobody going to say when my engine dies but me.

Me: literally packing my pack for a backpacking trip

I get more smiles per gallon in my Tdi rabbit. Guaranteed. 4th gear rolling burnouts and 60mpg. Suck it.
