  1. When my car had no turbo it ran really REALLY well in Death Valley. Now it has a variable turbo it runs REALLY well, all the time :)

  2. It depends on what setup. In my experience having diverted valve(s) (some high models have dual diverter valves. ) Diverter valves are better than wastegates because when the wastegate opens the turbo shaft changes speed. Diverting air does not interrupt the turbine spinning.
