0:15 I have had zfs at work and at home for around 8 years. I usually don't come even close to the 1GB per TB on any system. It's usually closer to 1/3 of GB of memory per TB. The main reason is budget and the number of slots. And then some of my servers are 10+ years old and only have 4 dimm slots but at the same time have 20 or more hard disks.

Although I do now have ECC on every zfs system (8 to 10) I have between home and work, I did run zfs systems for several years in production at work without any corruption. The key is to make sure your system is stable before using it. For me that meant 0 errors on memtest86 for 72+ hours of testing. No overclocking of CPU or ram / only JEDEC standard speeds and timings.

Because of all the hacks I avoid storing passwords for financial sites in my vault except for 1 which has 2 factor. I have just changed that password.
