As a native of the US I have had an electric kettle for 5 or so years because I like to drink tea mostly in the fall through spring. I used to use a keurig for that but it makes the tea have a little bit of the taste of the coffee. I also have a few stick rules (your last item) but I have them because my father was a carpenter and I worked with him on the weekends from my teens to my thirties.

As a young boy those were fighting words. I have heard them before. Never uttered them myself.

Decades ago when soda (they call it just pop where I live) was in glass bottles instead of plastic there used to be a similar return policy and refund. I don't think that ever happened with plastic. Aluminum had a refund but a 1 cent per can it did not get you much unless you could collect cans from other people. We do have recycling of these items at home and sometimes at work but at work I gave seen separate containers but then at the end of the day the cleaning people put the recycle items in with the trash so it was pointless to use the recycle bin. In that case I used to collect my recyclables and take them home to put in my recycle bin.

In the US I usually drive 12,500 to 13,500 miles per year (well not 2020 but most years) but change my oil 2 or 3 times in a year. I do this myself and it costs about $25 to $30 US for the synthetic blend oil and filter. I usually get both on sale usually months before usage. This prices is not much different from the quoted price of going to the shop but has a lot less hassle. Any shop with cheap prices always wants to give you a free 40+ point inspection so that they can try to sell you 5 other items when all you wanted was an oil change. My state of Pennsylvania requires a safety and an emissions inspection of each vehicle every 12 months and you get a sticker on your windshield for passing each

@josephcoram4361 I heard this statement many times in Pittsburgh PA as person who was born in 72

For a 1/2 mile I would walk unless I was with someone that this is not an option or the weather was bad or there was a large hill in the way. Being from Pittsburgh PA where hills are in all directions this can be a problem.

For the use of the knife and fork, I will use either hand for either but mostly with the knife in the left hand and fork in the right. I am mostly right handed person but a try to use the left. Also I am a very fast eater (my wife has tried to slow me down for all of the 17 and 3/4 years she has known me). As a result switching hands in mid stream probably does not happen much.

For checks, I have probably written a single check in the last 10 years. Before that I did use my checks more often. The unusual thing with my checks is my bank was purchased by a different bank but the checks from the old bank are still good and my account number did not change so they did not give me new checks. I have forgotten this more than once and had to look it up to make sure the old checks were still valid..

As an 51 year old American I will sometimes eat or drink with the other hand. It depends on the situation and my mood. For steak I will probably not to the zig zag and instead cut with one hand and have the fork in the other. With that said I have to mention that I am nearly always the fastest person eating at any table. It's not something I think about or try but I have always been this way. My wife has tried for 20+ years to break this but its not likely to happen.

You nailed my thoughts perfectly on the intro segment. That is exactly as I would react. Budweiser it is.. 😊

I do enjoy giving out candy since I moved to my own house in 2004. This year was quite different but I still managed to give out candy to the kids. To keep social distancing I put a small bucket at the bottom of my driveway with a Happy Halloween sign and a note to take 2.

We had the glass bottle deposits in Pennsylvania in the 1970s and early 1980s. No deposits since then. We moved on to having the trash pickup have a separate recycling collection which we pay an extra mandatory fee for the recycling. A few years back the recycling company Waste Management told us to no longer recycle glass. We either have to throw it away with the regular trash or take it to a special glass recycling place or hold it for a once a year recycling event in our local area.
