I'm almost 72 and my husband left me for a man after 28 years. I'm in a house and praying he pays it off and the taxes every year, like he promised. Never thought I would be screwed like this. Won't give me a divorce and I can't afford one. Not everyone is hurting in a van. We are ALL hurting!

Yes! Tipping is out of hand.

WHAT is wrong with some people??? How ignorant!

That's me. I have terrible hip pain from arthritis. I work part-time as a greeter and can't stand for long, so I sit on a rollator. My husband left me, long story, so now I work to keep a small rainy day fund to stay out of debt. It's hard at 72 when you have nobody to take care of you. I never thought I would end up like this. So far he's still paying the taxes on the house, but I worry what will happen if he changes his mind. I can't go to outings anymore because of trouble walking. Some days I wish I had stayed in NJ and never came to OH. I was by myself.

I learned in Home Economics in 9th grade how to write a budget and I still do. I don't eat out because prices are high and in some places quality has gone down because the workers don't care. I'm not paying for cold, old food when I get it home.

I've been decluttering my small home for 5 years so when I die there won't be much to get rid of. I've kept some books, 2 hymnals and 4 or 5 Bibles I've used over the years. Going to get rid of some winter clothes I never really wore much and already did it with summer clothes.

My husband left me in 2018 after 28 years. He won't pay for a divorce and I can't afford one. I work part-time to have an emergency fund. I never thought I would end up like this. The house is paid for but I send him high priority e-mails to make sure he pays the property taxes. I pray every day that nothing big breaks. Some days I just feel hopeless, as I'm having mobility issues and can't do things that I used to. 😢

I learned in Home economics in 8th grade in South Jersey how to write a budget and keep a checkbook and I STILL do at 72.

I live in a small home and I think this mandatory isolation made some people plain old mean!
41
Our federal employees and military families don't deserve that!!
40
So much evil and abuse to scam people.
32
Many companies are cancelling Christmas bonuses. A LOT of trucks from Canada and the US cross the Canadian and Mexican borders. Prices will go up on food and electronics, appliances, etc. Some layoffs are already happening and the big grocery store I work at has cut hours in Depts. Some won't believe it until it hits their wallets.
32
Yes, monitoring everything. Reminds me of the book I had to read in high school by George Orwell.
30
I don't have a good neighbor on 1 side of me but I'm not going to let them run me out of my house.
23
Lindy's nails are beautiful! I'm 72 and have never had nice nails.
22
Praying you can get the minivan empty soon!
21
That stool on wheels is the best feature!
17
I'm 72, in a small home, and hoping to get back to work next month part-time. I have no one to help me so I'll be working until I die unless Jesus sends a financial miracle. 😥
17
Lord willing, I'm going to Walmart for my usual groceries, top off my tank as usual and do my laundry so I have everything done as I have work on Wed. at my part-time job. I'll watch election coverage till 11 pm and then bed for work.
17
That is a shame! Praying for some way that she can get help.
17
You are right. I'm 71, alone and work part-time. I stay IN a monthly budget and cut back and the gov't. should too! I have cut back as much as I can with water, electric and now gas will be lower because it's not cold. Praying they don't hold up my check.
16
You are right Carol. Use those buildings for housing and pass some rent control laws.
15
Yes, let THEM live without a check!
15
That's a LOT of progress!
15
That's so nice of you Carole. Glad to hear he's thinking about church and dressing for an interview. Yes, 1 step at a time. God will bless you richly for this.
15
They haven't been on strike in almost 50 years. It's hard work and dangerous. Praying it won't last long. They have several legitimate issues.
14
People need to be mature in speech. My fear is SS and Medicare will be cut. We Seniors have paid into both. I've cut my budget as much as I can. I take surveys online to help my budget. Sadly, many in my small town don't even vote in local issues.
14
So glad she has a nice place to stay!!!
13
EMS made many announcements that they WOULD NOT do any rescue until after the storm.
12
As far as churches go it's a big issue with city zoning. Where do these people go to the bathroom? What if some leave trash in the parking lot? Churches can't leave their doors open anymore. Years ago our church had over $10,000 in church instruments stolen by someone who acted like they were supposed to be there. They then put in a camera system and alarm system.
12
YES, if it's shut down they should not get paid either. Don't dock, but no checks for them either. I'm on SS and SS is my income. I'm 71. Praying it doesn't happen.
11
This was really interesting. Those are some sky high rents!
10
That's the way to do it Carol!
10
So many are going to be hurt.
10
What a neat couple!
10
ONLY to the extent he follows directions. His BIG ego is more important.
9
What a great idea! At $30,000, some people are paying that for cars and trucks!
8
Good one Carol!
8
That can happen to those of us in homes too. I had to listen to a Christian sermon about that because my home has a lot of old things in it that I can't afford to update. I had to stop doing that.
8
You did the right thing by not saying anything. You never know how people will react.
8
Nice story.
8
You weren't wrong. I work pat-time to save for Rainy Day Fund, keep my house dark, keep heat at a reasonable temp and rarely use my oven. I'm squirreling away every$1 that I can. I'm 72 in SW Ohio.
8
Not a nomad but I never let mine get below 3/4. I'm 72.
7
Sounds interesting!
7
Nice story!
7
They are entitled to hard work and SAVE, just like we did!
7
Cute little trailer.
7
This almost made me cry! I've been listening to Christian radio and they were talking about having joy in spite of our circumstances. It's been hard dealing with my situation but I'm learning not to let it bring me down. Being thankful for all that I have.
6
Great video!!

I had to use part of my cash since I was out of work for 7 weeks waiting to get into a pain clinic for sciatica but I'm working again and replacing that.
