  2.  @Teapot69  Mate, UK houses seem to have worse standards than in Eastern/Central Europe. First of all, insulation is absolutely horrible. Huge gaps around windows, doors, cheap materials, etc. When I first arrived to the UK a decade ago, I had to move 6 times before I finally found something nice. Even though my current house still has poor insulation, I can literally feel the draft when all windows and doors are closed, at least it's fully detached and in a quiet village, so it's really nice here, without any annoying neighbours. All the previous houses were mouldy, cold, damp, very shoddy jobs in and out, I don't understand how UK builders can even build something like that, and how letting agencies and landlords are not ashamed to offer it to people. Windows opening outwards is a terrible design with no benefits, only drawbacks. Separate taps for scolding hot and freezing cold water even in newly built houses. My current house was converted from old metal works into a studio before I moved in, so I'm the first tenant. Everything should be nice, but it's not. And as if that wasn't enough, UK builders obviously don't bother with sealing anything. I had to seal gaps between the floor and walls with silicone because some strange worms were crawling in. Huge spiders squeeze through the door frame without any problems. And finally, it turned out they didn't seal any holes around water pipes either, so I also have mice in the house from time to time. Once I found a live frog in the shower and I still don't know to this day where did it come from, lol.
