  4. I'm an immigrant to the UK from Central Europe and I agree with Konstantin. I think that that "professor" is very delusional BUT the warehouse where I work is now at least 70% Indians, which is an increase from when I started working there 10 years ago. So where are all the proud Britons who voted for Brexit because "immigrants steal their jobs"? WHERE are they all?

The monthly pay is different only when someone worked overtime or worked less hours. Yet our employer reports "gender pay gap" of 7% or so. It turns out that that's due to more men being in the top management. But leftists would say it's because women earn less.

  26.  @zx7-rr486  So who would be working in all those warehouses then? Like I said, it doesn't seem like Brits are very eager on it. You can't blame house prices or NHS on a single factor, like immigration. Economy is like a super complex organism. My home country, as well as neighbouring countries have almost no immigration and yet house prices have gone up just as much as in the UK, maybe even more, relative to an average income which is still much lower than in the UK. Same with doctor/hospital waiting lists. What/who to blame then? Also, if British companies like Tesco, BP, GSK, Unilever and others can operate or sell products and make profit in my country, then I should be able to move and earn money in yours. Isn't that just fair?

  27.  @davidcooks2379  I still use human checkout. By using self checkout you are doing their job for free. Supermarket owners must love such customers, who not only pay for goods but also work for them for free. And staff interventions are constantly needed at self checkouts anyway because something is not working properly. If it was possible to replace those workers, they probably would do that. But there are things that machines can't do and will not be able to do any time soon. Like I said, those Indians are NOT cheaper. We all have identical hourly rate. Did you miss that part? The same applies to men and women, same hourly rate, although the company reports "gender pay gap".
