I know that young people's acne isn't, I had my share but yes I knew people who had it very bad and I knew they weren't causing their own problem. However I have known older people (late 20s or older) for whom their lifestyle (cocaine, amphetamine, opioid and alcohol use with poor diet) definitely was affecting their appearance, inasmuch as they looked OK then went downhill. Cokeheads particularly pick their faces due to formication for example - I know a 50 yr old woman who is a bit of a crackhead and she's always picking at imaginary insect bites.... I've had breakouts of boils caused by infections and took metronidazole for it a few times.
