I just bought one of these for my totally non-techie disabled artist friend who I do IT support for, to replace her ageing Pi4. I asked her if she wanted a i686 instead of the Pi but she really likes the PiOS and she insisted I get her the Pi 500. It went so well. Installed Pi Apps and imported her Chromium settings & passwords etc. She is now a longtime Linux user, ever since I wiped her malware-ridden copy of Vista on her under-powered PC many years ago and replaced it with Debian xfce I'd certainly recommend the Pi 5 to those looking for a cheap and easy to use browsing machine who is on a tight budget who wants to escape the MS trap , although they really need to sort the NVME issue ASAP.

Great to see more RISC-V content. I'm enthused by the "open hardware" aspect. It surely is the future

@yetanothername1131 Only the Pi5 has a PCIe connection, so this will only work with the Pi5

I started Linux with Red Hat 6.0, with a book bought randomly in a discount bookshop

Great video and advice. The fact that you use kdenlive to produce your videos says it all Super that you champion open source software in a pragmatic way that won't put off Windows users from trying FOSS or even Linux Maybe it could finally be the Year of the Linux Desktop? :) I use xfce on a refurb laptop and I really think Windows users would love it, especially as these days almost everything is web-based.. The lack of cruft and "sponsored apps" is such a breath of fresh air. I have installed Debian stable on 2 people's older machines who had zero IT knowledge and they are totally happy with it.

Great video Chris, thanks for 10 years of the good stuff!

Thanks for another absorbing video. I didn't know too much about Manjaro before I watched this, but I'm interested in trying it now I've seen this.

Great review Chris, very exciting as you say!

Always look forwards to your Sunday video

Great stuff Chris! We're on the cusp of an era of completely open & free (as in freedom) PC designs, unencumbered by patents and other legalistic cruft. It would be good to see a mainstream free software distro like Debian working with a RISC-V PC board out of the box .

Perfect post Sunday dinner fare!

Did you notice the Telegram Spam (NOT the well known Marc Bolan song) is appearing sometimes in the comments Chris?

Very informative! I didn't know about some of the flavours. I don't know why their xfce implementation is like that. I use xfce with Debian 12 and the menu has the categories on the left. As I roll over them the apps appear for each section. I was away from x86 Linux for a while as I had a Chromebook. My experience on a £99 refurb ThinkPad has been stellar. Everything "just works" and it's beaten the Chromebook hands down in every area (apart from the obvious Google integration, but that's not the advantage it once was)

It will doubtless slap, be lit, and have a veritable cornucopia of rizz!

Indeed it is!

Thanks Chris for another interesting video.

Good to hear you're moving towards being a Linux-only setup

Thank you Chris! I have subbed to your shiny new channel.

If it's Sunday it must be...Explaining Computers. Let's go and take a closer look !

Another thoroughly enjoyable video on the exciting developments in RISC-V boards! Went by in a flash, whereas some other circa 20 min videos could make me yawn. Great stuff Chris!

Pimoroni's PCIe ribbon cable is cleverly angled so you can easily remove/replace the sd card.

Another really informative video Chris, I'd never even heard of FydeOS before!

Thank you for another lovely video Mr Barnatt! Made me want to do a Pico project
