  1. Austerity is completely unnecessary and is a political choice. Government budgets have never been the same as Thatcher's untruthful claim about Government finance being like household finance when Government finance is nothing like household finance because the UK Government can borrow what it needs from the Government owned Bank of England and create all the money it needs. Taxpayers money has never been used to fund public services as the UK Government obtains it's money from Bank of England and UK Government debt is in Sterling. The reality is that the UK Government austerity are measures to control the people. Richard J Murphy on YouTube has information on how UK Government finance works.
