  1. A little Xylitol such as an eighth to a quarter of teaspoon of Xylitol used as a mouthwash after eating or drinking could be helpful. Large amounts of Xylitol can have a laxative effect. Xylitol must be kept away from pets and Xylitol is dangerous to dogs.
