  1. Social Security Benefits have previously been cut by £37 billion from May 2010 to December 2019 with a large amount of the cuts being the reduction in disability benefits. Legacy benefits paid the minimum amount determined by government but Universal Credit pays even less than the minimum under legacy benefits with the removal of disability premium payments. It's why Tranisitional Protection was introduced though even this is temporary reducing year on year as inflation and cost of living crisis erodes the value of Transitional Protection to become level with standard Universal Credit payment levels.
