  1. Printer and multifunction devices that can scan, copy and print are sold at low prices following the same model as disposable razors where manufacturers make money on consumables. Entry level and mid range printers and multifunction devices used to be very expensive when margins on IT were high. Banning printer and multifunction device manufacturers from restrictions on third party and unbranded consumables will mean manufacturers will raise prices of devices to reflect their true cost of design, production, storage, marketing, distribution, retail and support.
