China could easily and quickly occupy Afghanistan and ship Taliban and Islamists to re-education centres and even ban Islam in Afghanistan but it would mean immense numbers of Afghan casualties, deaths and destruction of the remaining infrastructure. China unlike the US, NATO and Russia will not concern itself with peace negotiations with Afghans if Afghans attack China. Were Afghan forces to attack China then China could simply replace the population of Afghanistan with Chinese with Afghanistan becoming the next Tibet. Pakistan would not intervene to stop China occupying Afghanistan.
