  1. The question is not who controls the Metaverse but what. If the controller of the Metaverse is an alien sentient interdimensional artificial intelligence possibly invited by those seeking to open interdimensional portals than it would have no need for humans in the long term and have total control of the planet in the short term. The Metaverse will cease to exist as a global network due to a range of external environmental factors such as solar flares, meteorites, or alien invasion.
