Brexiteers and Brexit supporters voted for Brexit because they blamed the EU for all immigration into the UK. Yet the EU has never controlled any immigration into the UK. It's not the fault of the EU if successive British Governments chose not to use standard EU migration controls used by other EU member states. The British Government has always been responsible for and always controlled non EU migration into the UK. Many of the Brexiteers and Brexit supporters who voted for Brexit and voted Conservative to 'Get Brexit Done' hated foreigners and didn't want 3 million EU citizens in the UK. The same hate filled Brexiteers and Brexit supporters must be incandescent with rage at the prospect of potentially 5.4 million Hong Kong Chinese citizens being given the right to settle in the UK and become British citizens. The UK can accept large numbers of migrants but only if it funds national infrastructure including national council house building programme and eradicate poverty, inequality, deprivation, destitution and homelessness and increases social security benefits and reinstate public services funding. It's time Tories ditched their policy of forcing the poor to compete against the poor for access to public services such as council housing by building new council housing. Importing large numbers of people from Hong Kong will not transform London into a Singapore on Thames and not turn the UK into an East Asian tiger economy. East Asian tiger economies and Singapore city state are successful due to reliance on close trading links and market access to their nearest geographical neighbours. The UK was successful due its reliance on the EU but Brexit means the UK has lost its biggest trading partner. It's time most politicians realised this.

Labour (branded by some as New Labour) from 1997 continued Conservative privatisation of public services including NHS privatisation. The current Labour Party is the continuation of New Labour and will continue the Thatcherite agenda that is Neoliberalism, privatisation and austerity.

@JamesRichards-mj9kw PFI schemes were created by John Major's government but not widely used. Gordon Brown used PFI schemes to hide public spending to maintain his reputation as a prudent Chancellor. However EU rules changed and so PFI schemes expenditure had to be declared with public spending. PFI schemes are incredibly expensive and poor value for money the equivalent of taking out a mortgage for a single meal.

@JamesRichards-mj9kw Gas, water, electricity, GPO, rail and bus companies were nationalised and operated by the public sector by 1950 yet they still charged customers and this was not seen as privatisation. Attlee did not start NHS privatisation because NHS services were still provided by the NHS and the NHS was at that time still owned and operated by the government and fully within the public sector. King George VI was like his successors the late Queen and the New King the world's largest landowners. The late Queen according to the New Statesman and Business Insider in 2011 owned 6.6 billion acres of land therefore the amount given under the Marshall Plan could have been reduced with the sale of some of this land.

Conservatives wanted to close the mines to work towards the break up the power of the trade unions with Thatcher seeking revenge for coal miners strike in the 1970s leading to Labour Government. The UK has 300 years of coal reserves based on 1980s rate of use and were the coal industry to receive the same subsidies as nuclear power than people could have been paid to buy coal and paid to buy electricity from coal fired power stations. In any case Conservatives have abandoned coal miners and coal mining communities and not provided full replacement investment and full funding to replace the loss of coal mines and loss of economic output.

A decade of needless and unnecessary austerity by Government, benefit cuts, cuts to public services, mass unemployment before and after Coronovirus, homelessness, deprivation, destitution has fractured society. Fractured society combined with Universal Credit, work capability assessments, benefit sanctions, benefit delays, benefit conditionalities, benefit loans, forcing the poor to rely on food banks, volunteers and charity to replace Government support will also increase support for revolution. Coronovirus crisis and the devastation of No Deal Brexit with economic collapse, power cuts, water shortages, rationing, loss of product range, product delays, massive price rises, and martial law with military patrols on British streets could result in break up of the UK and revolution. Conservative ideology is to promote Socioeconomic Darwinism to force the poor and public services to compete for the same resources cut from previous levels and this creates division. The UK will be far closer to revolution in 2021 than at any point in the 1970s and 1980s.
