The UK could increase the numbers of coal fired power stations to replace decommissioned nuclear power stations and use carbon dioxide emissions capture to supply carbon dioxide to industry, healthcare, agriculture and food and drinks industry and use coal to produce rare earth elements. The rock from waste coal could be processed and used for construction. Were coal, oil and natural gas to receive the same subsidies as nuclear power and renewable energy than customers could be paid to use coal, oil and natural gas. The UK could supplement offshore wind power with tidal power and underwater wave power. The UK needs to reinstate and increase natural gas storage and distribution networks previously lost after privatisation. Reports suggest that 70% of the UK natural gas storage facilities have closed down since 2017 and reinstating the capacity and expanding natural gas storage facilities across the UK will protect natural gas supply and maintain low prices in the UK.
