The UK has 300 years of coal reserves at 1980s rate of use and were coal to receive the same subsidies as nuclear power then people could be paid to use energy from coal. Coal can provide electricity and natural gas. Renewables have received £78 billion in subsidies paid from customers and Government. There isn't a climate emergency and atmospheric carbon dioxide level is 0.04%. There is a geoengineering emergency and geoengineering must be stopped. Hydraulic fracking will be a disaster for the UK due to fracking floods permanently contaminating vast areas of the UK with hundreds of toxic chemicals meaning these areas will be uninhabitable and unusable by humans and animals.

@steveosborne2297 Coal subsidies were far less than nuclear power and supporters of nuclear power don't factor in ongoing costs of containment and storage of nuclear waste for hundreds of years.
