When you say you're going to occupy the entire country inside of a week originally... That's how you see it as a failure. When you start the war off being seen as the second or third most dominant army on planet Earth, and get about 3 months into it and find yourself the second best army in Ukraine...that's how you fail. When you humiliate your military on the global stage and find yourself a junior partner to China.... THAT is how you fail

And yet the Ukrainians have no problem recruiting, and exercise no great effort in shutting down their borders, imprisoning people or utilizing their own prisoners as troops. It's almost like one country is having significant problems that the other country isn't.

Ah yes. These are much like the Japanese sources that stated every island lost was an insurmountable loss of manpower to the Americans that would never land on the home island. I think in World war II, just about this time, a certain rather gaunt propagandist was stating that while the situation was dire in the east, there was certainly no risk that Russians would end up in Berlin. I mean if you had asked any German source they would have told you. Idiot.

A really shitty way to lose a 20-year war in Afghanistan? An object political failure after having had multiple opportunities to extricate yourself on a win? Look, I know you're desperate to take the light off of Russian failures but everyone in the United States military is aware of the failures in Afghanistan and the mediocrities of Iraq. That doesn't change what's happening in Ukraine.

@Avaricumstudios Right like when they don't prove the point that you would desperately want them to prove. It's neither the data nor the indices that are problem It's the performance of the Russian military.

For the object humiliation of your military, an enormous amount of soft and hard power loss and having to accept junior partner status to China? You must really want 20% of Ukraine.

And Mongolia wants conquered most of Asia and a significant portion of Europe? What's your point. What once was is not always to be.

@raywhitehead730 Ray, the Marine Corps got rid of our tanks for very specific reasons related to our very specific place in the United States military overarching strategy. It's not a great argument to lead with.

Failure may not necessarily be losing, but it's definitely not winning.
