  23. None. You don't need to sympathize with them at all. However there is a valid strategic concern to attacking the other parties base of power there, and drawing support away. There's strategic and tactical reasons to support bleeding off supporters and winning local, state and federal seats in as many numbers as possible to consistently keep the other party on the back foot.
