This means that in order for Ukraine to join NATO after 2014, Ukraine would have to give up the territories it lost after 2014. And even if that were to happen, all NATO members would have to agree to Ukraine joining NATO, including countries like Hungary and Turkey. So it is not an argument for the invasion in 2022 because Ukraine had no chance of joining anyway.

Europe consists of many countries with 1000 to 2000 years of history and many of these countries have 20 to 80 million inhabitants.
