Ignore the negatives John I totally agree that Vanessa and crew are amazing for mental health. My Mum passed five weeks ago and I have been binge watching Vanessa and Zephyr since. So calming and healing. Take care.

So many beautiful poets have mental health issues. Thank you for visiting Sylvia, we need to remember these amazing people. Yorkshire, stark, intriguing and so full of history. I think you are travelling in the best way to see Yorkshire in it's many roles and faces. Thank you for taking me along with you I really appreciate it. Take care and enjoy your week =-)

The colours on that green beetle are amazing. Mother Nature keeps astounding me, the smallest of creatures are so beautiful. Take care and have a great week. =-)
21
People's indifference to other creatures is sad as more go on the red list. You, for one, are bringing the plight of these creatures to the notice of your subscribers and hopefully the ripple of care starts going further as people become more aware. Take care as always. =-)

Vanessa thank you so much for not putting waste water from your washing machine into the canal. So glad that Zeph was tick free. The wildlife that you see and draw is so beautiful and I never get over the intricacies of their form and colours. Have a lovely week and take care =-)

@themindfulnarrowboat Mum had just turned 95 and passed peacefully. I'm pleased for her but the hole she has left is huge. I'll be fine, it's the circle of life. Take care =-)
12
Thank you for allowing me to come along on Alice Grace. It's been a pleasure. Wishing you all the best for 2024. Nga mihi nui (best wishes using Te Reo which is the language of Maori in New Zealand. Nga is pronounced Na) Take care =-)

Thank you once again for a peaceful vlog, 4am do I watch it now? No go back to sleep, too awake, toast and coffee sorted lol. I love the way you find wildlife and capture it's natural day to day 'doings.' Have a great week, thank you again.

HI Vanessa, it's so good to hear that people care about wildlife and help when there is a need. I love teaching my two year old grandson about wildlife in my garden and hope that he will grow up respecting the creatures around him. As you were flicking through your journal I thought hmmm I wonder if you could get it printed and published. Take care as always =-)

Mother Nature is the most amazing artist and she provides four seasons to show her work in different hues. I love the way that you appreciate the artistry. It's sad that the house wasn't there but you can appreciate the area and her possible inspirations while Edith was there. I hope 2023 treats you well, take care as always =-)
8
Thank you for the nice relaxing vlog, sorry to hear about Oscar, it's always a sad time. Take care as always.
8
Aww Vanessa just love Zephyr's portrait. I love how you can watch the birds and creatures make ready for Winter in their natural habitat. Autumn is a time for preparing and hunkering down. I hope that Zeph finds her sticks and biscuits while you hunt for mushrooms. =-) Take care as always.

So much history coming alive through people living in canal boats. I have a book called "Maiden's Trip" which is a story about women who had never been on the canal working the boats through wartime when the men were away. Amazing read. You are so lucky to have the canal system and it needs to be preserved and used. Thank you Vanessa for our trip in little Alice today, so many people in such a little boat =-) Take care and have a good week.
7
I love people caring for their environment and taking pride in their towns, alas many still need to come on board. Love your signs, I hope they make walkers in the area smile. Fingers crossed the blacking you put on last time has done it's job. Take care =-)
7
Certainly a mindful vlog this week, so relaxing and the scenery just beautiful. It's good to see glimpses of Spring while the weather is all over the place. Take care Vanessa and have a great week. =-)
7
I love watching geese fly, if I hear some I always go outside and watch them. They never let any group member fall behind, if one is lagging others will fall back to keep them company. Thank you for inviting me along to sit with the swallow. Are many of the rivers and canals getting more weed? Possibly the hot weather has impacted on the growth? Take care and have a great week. =-)
7
Zephyr is beautiful, to take her on those trains must have taken some planning, comfort stops etc. So pleased Alice Grace was fine when you got back home. Take care =-)
7
If I ever came to England (which won't happen as I'm terrified of flying) I would not go to London and all of the tourist spots. I would want to go to places like this. Lol I loved teaching, your outlook of finding fairy tales and stories in places are similar to mine and what I love doing is making up stories for my grandsons (4 & 2) and making them into little books for them. Always the teacher =-) I'm pleased you are getting some relax time and hopefully the sock stayed at the beach .... there's a story there =-) Take care as always.
6
The arched bridge - I always think of the people who have used the bridge through time, the situations through different eras. Take care =-).
6
Thank you for taking me on your cruises through 2023, have a great time with family. See you in 2024. =-)
6
There must be an abundance of flying insects around for the birds to catch. The school year has finished for 6 weeks here in New Zealand so I'm going to make time to sit in the garden and watch the life going on around me. On your travels you have reminded me that sitting and watching is an amazing tonic. Take care dear lady, loved the vlog as usual =-)
6
I love watching kites, falcons, hawks flying, they have such poise. The factory must be producing by products which the birds feed on otherwise surely they wouldn't stay around. Thanks for the awesome trip, so peaceful. Take care =-) Post script as I comment through your journey and not wait until end. I'm following the progress of 2 peregrine falcon chicks who are approximately 3 weeks old and live in a water tower nest box in Orange, NSW Australia, it's fascinating watching the parent birds caring for the chicks. Totally time consuming ..... =-)
6
No to the tunnel, too scary but when you look at the industrial infrastructure it's a totally different world to what it was in the past. Thank you for taking me on your journey as always, it's refreshing to know that the canal is now a habitat for so much wildlife rather than "black country" workings. Take care =-) Ah Zephyr love the photo bombing =-)

I learned a long time ago to never say 'this is perfect.' Life took a real spiral after me saying that but one chapter finishes another starts. Though look at the community that came to help you!! You and Fran I would say would be on a similar wavelength. The weed would make great compost, the river trust could compost and sell it? Otters, like river meerkats, cute and sleek through the water. Great relaxing vlog, thank you. Have a great weekend. =-)
5
Gosh how the peace of the Idle must have been so tranquil after being on the tidal mayhem. Umbrellas can be great weather vanes but they have their quirks in some situations. Take care as always and thank you =-)
5
I find it really amazing how bees line themselves up with flowers moving in the wind, they go back and forth until connecting. I love watching creatures and you make it so easy, did you major in biology at university or is nature your passion? =-) thank you. Great vlog Vanessa thank you again. Alice Grace is looking amazing in her plant finery. =-)
5
Lol earworm started with Me and you and a dog named Boo. Thanks again for a restful vlog. =-)
5
I love it!! Isn't it amazing how the words flow ( I assume) when the setting, mood and vocab just work themselves on to the page. I've learnt, but still the heart races in situations that arrive, that if you can take time to breathe and slowly tackle the problem it's easier to work through... like getting the hammer =-) Take care as always and thank you for starting my day with the words of the bard and yourself of course. =-)
5
If I lived in England and was 20 years younger I would certainly consider narrowboat living. Loved the vlog as always =-) Have a great week

A new subscriber - I love the general information on the area that you are giving out. I'm from New Zealand and will never travel to England so thank you for your vlogs. Love your art =-)
4
What a beautiful part of the canal network. I love the way you research the area's wildlife. The tunnel hmm maybe =-) not really into tunnels but would have loved to see bats. Albert Einstein was an amazing person who understood human nature and the needs of the learner. Thank you as always Vanessa. I'm interested in your journal as well =-) Take care =-) Aww the fox, so beautiful.
4
Have a lovely week =-) I love the clear water and splash as you go through instead of the weed glug. Foxes are beautiful, I know they have a reputation but every being needs to feed. Take care =-)
4
That lock would have had me in near panic mode and yes then my ability to read coherently would have been out the window. Love the wildlife and the wildness around and about. Thank you and as always, take care =-)
4
What a way to start the year. I hope the rest of the trip is more calm for you. May 2025 be kind. Take care as always =-)
4
Thank you =-) the pigeons, you are quite right, I just rewatched the movie "My boy Jack" and yes they had pigeons in the trenches to let out when the soldiers went over the top, ridiculous idea as bullets whizzing past, "stop please for a minute I have to let the pigeon out." The cuckoo, you definitely were watching it as it's top moved as it cuckooed. Zephyr a total delight and so pleased Oscar's plaque is still there. Thank you Vanessa, totally peacefully mindful with a smile. Time helps the healing bit by bit =-)
4
Thank you for taking me on your journey. Yes it is amazing if you sit and watch what goes on around you, even in my own garden. Take care and keep warm =-)
4
"Red tape" is the stickiest non bending/ stretching tape around. Watch the old TV programme "Yes minister" it shows perfectly how legalities work I'm afraid. Glad you are chugging along again, take care =-).
4
I love the clip of the swan taking off from the river, what a lot of energy they need to get airbourne. Thank you for taking me along on the cruise. =-) Take care.

It is so hard when the 'children' decide that they want to live in another country. We are so lucky to have instant phone and messaging available. Not sure what it is like from Cambodia. Christmas time is quite hard as the kids have other family plans and of where to be so we now have our family, who can make it, get together in November. That is life and as you say I'm proud of where my kids are at and that they have found their own path. I have always been fascinated by canal boat living since I read a book as a child. Thank you for letting me in a round about way fulfil my narrowboating dream. Take care as always =-)
3
Thanks for the relaxing vlog, I hope that you are keeping cool. Did you stay at the noisy mooring for long? Kind regards as always =-)
3
I hope the new fuel works out for you. Is it being used more by other vehicles as well? Loved the journey today =-) Take care as always. =-)
3
I love doing DIY but I wouldn't have attempted drilling a window. The canal community is waking up as the sun grows strong, it's great to see the babies appearing and flowers beginning to open. Take care and as always, love your channel. =-)
3
Aww the little coot must have been starving. It just shows the vulnerability of creatures relying on the environment. Loved my trip with you this week and looking forward to the sea trip. Take care as always =-)
3
What a lovely restful cruise and what a busy garden. I think the Spanish have it right heatwise, work in the morning and evening and siesta through midday. Take care and enjoy the memories of your uncle. =-)
3
Thank you for such a peaceful vlog. Stuck in bed sick so really appreciate your vlog. Take care oxoxo Love the little church for the little Chrssy. =-)
3
If I ever had the mind to come to England (which will not happen) I wouldn't visit the tourist places but want to meander around the places that you and Simon (Memory Seekers) take me to each week. Some of my forebears come from England and it's fun imagining them possibly walking alongside canals, working in the fields or factories that you pass. Thank you so much for taking me along on your cruises. Take care =-)
3
Shudder airports I lose the plot totally.
3
Imagine the temperature change if more trees were planted in cities where it gets hot. Is Summer evaporating the water in the pounds as there are a few canals that seem to be low in water? Narrowboating isn't for the faint hearted is it? Take care and keep the sunblock on. =-)
3
I love watching juvenile birds screeching, "I'm here Mum and Dad and I'm hungry!" Our fuel prices in New Zealand seem to have stabilized at the moment but food prices keep climbing. It's fun watching the Northern hemisphere tucking up for Autumn / Winter as we start organising for Spring. Thanks for the cruise, take care =-)
3
Vanessa I could not see you stuck in a house, you would go stir - crazy. Everyone is finding it hard and the money is being stretched, that is why I don't buy you coffees, every cent counts sigh but no worries still making ends meet. Buying your journal was my Christmas present to myself =-) Just thinking to lessen the carbon foot print further have you thought of composting toilet, possibly too expensive but it would probably be less worrying to get to pumpout stations. Take care as always =-).
