About cemeteries - - - Did you know that the City and County of San Francisco decided in 1900 to ban all new burials and then started in 1912 to move all of its buried people to the City of Colma a few miles away? San Francisco today has only a military cemetery on the Presidio and a Catholic one next to Mission Dolores. When you visit the Bay Area (when borders are again open), you can add that to the unusual nature of San Francisco. Meanwhile, the District of Columbia has some freedmen's cemeteries, one of which is open one day a year. And some of our cemeteries still show signs of having been segregated. Alas. Racism pervades so much of American life.
