No, China is not telling Japan and SK not to align with the US. China is telling Japan and SK to grow a spine and do what is in the interests of their people and country. Not aligning with the US on everything and acting like a obsequious vassal is in the interest of the people of Japan and SK.

Westerners shocked that a government prioritize the 99%'s interests over the top 1% and the long term sustainability, foundation and stability of the country. The Chinese people have suffered a lot in the past and they know this is nothing. Most importantly they know the government is on their side. The 90% approval rate is no joke and the fact that western analysts like these two still do not understand this fundamental aspect of the Chinese economy, government and its culture is why NO ONE in the west like their government and ruling elite.

The only people who keep saying China is going to invade Taiwan are the Americans. China does not want to invade Taiwan, so long Taiwan does not declare independence. That's the red line. Respect that, and respect the One China policy and nothing will happen and reunification will be done peacefully. One of which is the US keep misrepresenting that China is or want to invade Taiwan. We all know it is not true, we all know what the stakes are, and we are really really tired and pissed off at western disinformation. It doesn't work on us, so STFU and go home and fixed your own house first before coming to threaten Singapore that they "might need make some hard decisions." I think the one who is going to make some hard decisions is America finally acknowledging that China's rise is inevitable and good, and prepare to engage with the world normally as a participant and not as a tyrant.

@JigilJigil China already dominate nearly all chip making and they are going to reach parity within the next 5 - 10 years or so. To say chips will be made elsewhere other than China is wishful thinking. They already won the competition. You just have not seen the full effect yet.

America has always been hypocritical throughout its entire history. When it was industrializing and could not compete against the British Empire, it kept its tariffs high. When it is the only industrialized country post WWII that was not destroyed, suddenly it likes free trade. Bailing out Blackrock by bailing out Evergrande will not make the Chinese happy because while the lockdown is something everyone suffered together because it is a pandemic, bailing out Evergrande and Blackrock is a clear cut corruption and favoring the rich when the economy is taking a down turn. The Chinese have very strong class consciousness, unlike capital fundamentalist westerners. Bailing out corporate malfeasance will likely create far more dissatisfaction than having to suffer a lockdown.

They crippled Japan in the 80s because it was rising faster than they expected. The stagflation of Japan can be partly be attributed to the Plaza Accords, basically screwing Japan over the trade deficits incurred by the US. When you have friends like the US, why will you need enemies.
