My job lets me fly SIA for work. I'm now too spoiled for other airlines. Most airlines can't even touch SIA, and American airlines are downright ghetto compared to the top airlines.

They just started. Not everything has to burst out on the scene like Huawei or Black Myth Wukong. But the fact that they are pretty much the only other manufacturer who is willing to challenge the duopoly already signals a shift in the future of high tech aviation. This is not Brazil with their Embrarer or Canada with Bombardier. This is China. Their industrial might and technological know-how and potential are on a totally different power scale.

@dann5480 That's what they are afraid of. Every time it goes like this: China will never be able to do this high tech industry, they entered the industry; then it's China's new products suuuuuuuuccccccckkkkkksss LOLOLOL, so they persevere; then their next gen or 3rd, 4th gen product becomes highly competitive and near parity within an astonishingly short period of time, and their western detractors start accusing them all kinds of nefarious wrongdoing; then the Chinese companies start becoming mature and their products becomes not just competitive, but even better AND cheaper, so their detractors want to ban them or put tariffs on them. The C929 is going to start making them panic. The possible C939 will probably make them wet their pants.

@smithkenny8034 You can say the same thing about UAS carriers still buying Boeing even though they are having so many problems for a very long time.

There are worse airports to have a short layover than Changi. You know, like very other airport in the world.

@kingsharkoon people like you also say building EVs is much harder than building this and that, and yet here we are.

@user-yt198 Maybe they are just being cautious. We all know how difficult aircraft manufacturing is, so I understand why they put their numbers at so low. I don't doubt that once they have their management, supply chain and production line up and running properly with enough orders to justify the expansion, their yearly production number will gradually increase. It's the same thing as Chengdu making the J-20. They started off quite low in numbers. Now they are making 100 over per year and will push to even higher numbers in the future. Arguably, a stealth is even harder to build than a commercial airliner in some areas. So I say there is little doubt they will reach the production number needed to fill their orders. The question is what C929 and future variants will bring. I have no doubt that the C929 will be close to 787 and A350 in terms of performance now that they are even making their own jet engines. Maybe not parity but close enough and the price attractive enough to make it a threat. The thing I can see holding Comac back will be how well they are distributed across the world to do service, training and spare parts. Those are not things you can just bum rush.

@kevinj2412 It will hurt his western exceptionalism ego.

@user-yt198 You might be right. Chinese engineers and industrialists are usually very good at leapfrogging technological steps and hurdles. especially when they master the basics and the government recognize their industry as a national strategically vital one. So we might even see C939 with this kind of design you described.

This is why China is building their own commercial jets.

Well, it's a good thing I don't usually have to be forced to fly north american airlines or to share the cabin with a majority of north americans. You never see this kind of sht on an Asian or European Airlines, either from the passengers or the crew.

LOL well said.

Have you actually check out what China is making today? This dumb stereotype really need to go away.

@eamonahern7495 90% of the components are all made in China. Even the US military have to source their chips from China.

Everything China does is copycat? You westoids are as delusional as you are arrogant.

@zszs100 I said sarcastically that it seems to westerners everything China does is just copying, and tube censored me lol

@AnotherPointOfView944 ohh you mean like boeing

Feeling safer because there is more than 2 engines is really silly. You are more likely to die while driving than flying.

@AlexFranceParis999 It's why they are developing their own engines. The more the west tries to squeeze China, the more they will create their own alternatives. They were happy to just buy high tech stuff, but the west is afraid of seeing China move up the tech and value chain. High tech and finance and the military are the only things the west has that allowed them high standards of living. The moment China reaches parity, the west will be relegated to a backwater, and the west will rather destroy the world than to see that happen. Mark my words, the west is going to do something to the world that will make them the worst evil of this century. They have already done it twice in the last century and many times for the last 500 years. Another century of atrocities to preserve their hegemony is the usual form of the west.

Smaller SE Asian carriers like Indonesia's TransNUSA is flying the C919.

@rodneybell6997 Sore loser.
