Seeing if a Western intellecutal trying not to be a western chauvinist is like seeing a Koala bear trying to solve differential equations. There is almost nothing worth learning from the west. If anyone is actually serious about learning Chinese history, go ask an actual Chinese historian from a Chinese institute steeped in the cultural background of the country to give you the correct interpretations and facts.
