@georgewilder7423 The 800 million is not done all on Xi's incumbency but he definitely continued to bring prosperity to the Chinese people since he took office. It is a combination of over 30-40 years of policies and development since Deng's era.

Exactly. I keep seeing western and Indian media trying to lionize India and insist that India can become the next "China". I say a system that can produce a leader like Modi and oligarchs like Abamni and the Adani family will never be able to replicate China's success.

@yellowsheeps Yes, Mao laid the foundation of the country. He was a visionary who was well educated on Marxist theories to apply it to the material conditions of China during the fight against the KMT. He concluded that the farming peasantry of China was also important for the revolutionary effort and he succeeded in mobilizing the farming proletariat more so than the urban proletariat. Even the Cultural Revolution was done because he was seeing reactionary forces starting to take over the country and they needed to be purged. The mistake was that it went out of control and went too far but it had to be done. All that foundations laid down, especially the control of the CPC over the country's capital and resources and the strong connection between the people and the party, allowed Deng to embark on his ambitious plan to open up China and use capitalists and the market economy to propel China forward fast. Deng, Zhou, Mao, they were all true communists who understood the lessons of Marx and Lenin and were able to adapt their praxis, and theories to the unique conditions of China. That's why China is so superlative today.
