  1. It's the difference between the urban and the rural people. The urban people were living off the international aid and foreign presence in Afghanistan. The rural people were faced with corrupt local police trying to squeeze money out of them. It's like urban Americans who are all Woke and then talking down to rural Americans calling them 'White Supremacists'.

  3. ​ @Johnny Wong - they're not going to rebuild Afghanistan. They don't even know how to run the place effectively, and their country will no longer be receiving foreign aid. China certainly isn't going to just throw lots of money at Afghanistan which can't pay them back. Pakistan, which is Taliban's main backer and defender, is too bankrupt to provide any money.

  4. ​ @Johnny Wong - the US has not been getting any oil out of Afghanistan. In fact, the US makes plenty of its own oil at home. Afghanistan is not known to be an oil-producing state.

  7. China has given diplomatic recognition to Taliban, and vice-versa. It's like an eastern version of the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact.
